I am thrilled to be on the tour for this festive read. Thanks to the author for my gifted copy of this book.
What is it about?
Elspeth Scobie is not a happy woman. Her tenants are late with their rents, and her assistant is leaving to go home to the islands and get married. For Elspeth, money is not to be spent on wasteful things such as repairs, coal, weddings and certainly not Christmas! Will a night of disturbed sleep change her mind?
This re-telling of Dickens' A Christmas Carol, set in Glasgow in the 1930s, brings a refreshing twist to a familiar tale.
Bobs and Books honest review:
I absolutely loved this retelling of A Christmas Carol!
I loved to hate Elspeth from the first few pages, and also liked the switch from London with a Scottish setting. It was wonderful to read a female "Scrooge" and I appreciated this aspect immensely.
This felt familiar yet also unrecognisable in a very clever switch up of the classic we all know and love.
Entertaining and enticing.
Out now.
